^ 6 Pack @The Lab
^ Kira Inglis @Adobe Books
^ Time Lines @Mina Dresden
*First we headed over to The Lab for a decent group show featuring works by Sarah Applebaum, Sarah Bereza, Matthew Cox, David King, Meredith Miller, and Joseph Rizzo.
Meredith Miller with medium format shots of overweight people. Kinda boring.
I thought these pillow fight paintings by Sarah Bereza were the best thing in the show... Pink and pillow fights. Really like the evil bunny lurking.
Jessica thought that this piece, also by Sarah Bereza, was the best thing in the show. In any case, Sarah was our favorite from the Lab that night... Foxes!
Live musical/ performance thing-a-ma-job. Guy with cardboard cutout of Bob Dylan on his back playing with noise making machines.
Very nice, but seem to see this sort of thing a bit these days. Like the 3D aspect of them.
Pretty nice collages by David King.
We then made our way up 16th to Adobe books to see paintings by Kira Inglis.
musical guest Tim Cohen (Black Fiction)
It wouldn't be Adobe books without books.
These paintings were great! From the release: "inspired by the banal aesthetic of Walgreens drugstore ceilings and the related abstract mayhem of security mirror reflections. Kira paints quasi-still-life paintings of models built within her workspace. The models themselves are theatrical and exaggerated facades, harking back to urban planning and architecture, and momentarily stabilizing various discarded, everyday packaging materials, media detritus, and other conduits from the urban environment."
The nice thing about these is that they're loose but yet with a lot of detail. Good close and Good from far... It's a win win!
The big ones $1,900 & $1,700. The small ones $600.
Great great great.
Brion Nuda Rosch as we head on out.
On the way we swung by my old corner store when I was doing Low Gallery. Alex was the best dude to buy beer from, and during that time of my life, I'd visit Alex quite often.
Ryan and Scotty
At Mina Dresden for Time Lines... Here are the artists listed: Tony Benna, Val Britton, John Dwyer, Miriam Dym, Chris Fitzpatrick, Leslie Kulesh, Katie Lewis, Sham Saenz, Derek Snodgrass, Eric Taggart, and Kathy Zaugg.
Nothing was listed. Not sure who created what, but these are great. Anyone know who did this?
Richard Hart is beginning to look a bit like a 70s rock star.
I see Pat Fink.
People love them some string.
On the way out we ran into Collinson of Low Card getting his fireman on.
These eyes eyed my pee pee while peeing between the cars.
Jessica and I went to the boat for some BBQ.
Aaaaa, morning, fire's out, and the rain's still comin'.
